Yesterday Sunday May 16 was a great day.
10 Km. run race (which makes training easy on my shoulder while still I am getting the cardio up) and then after, the first real attempt to swim out side.
Water was 14 degrees. A bit warmer than last week when I went down to take the temperature. The Star photographer Tony Bock came down as well to shoot some pics.
As the water was still cold, and was my true first experience out for this project I was in a bit less that 20 minutes swimming up and down mostly to adapt to the feeling.
The beginning was shocking. The body was screaming GET ME OUT OF HERE! but i stayed and little by little everything became less painful. I am very happy since I was able to put my face in the water and actually swim.
Katie, Shirley and Santiago were there and they are a great support. Santiago got into a wet suit and swim a bit with me.
This experience was a boost to the confidence.
After the swim we had what makes life great: food with family.

Miguel,
This is such a cool challenge that you have taken up. Do you have a fixed swim training schedule/ location in case someone who might want to swim along is in the area?
Malva
Thanks Nat!
It is not fixed but I can let you know in advance for the weekends. Would it be the Quarry in Caledon or Guelph Lake. End of June we might try a long swim (6-8 hours) out of Niagara-on-the-lake. But you will know for sure.
Hope to see you soon!
